WWW.BACKTOSCRIPTURE.COM - Doctrine Statement (Part 3)

Continuing on from yesterday we have the final 5 essential doctrines from the Back To Scripture ministry (many of these doctrines were derived from Paul Washer's "Heart Cry Missionary" statement and the "Together For the Gospel" statement).

THE CHURCH. The Lord Jesus is the Head of the Church (Ephesians 1:22, Colossians 1:18), which is composed of all His true disciples (Ephesians 2:11-3:6), and in Him is invested supremely all power for its government. According to His commandment, Christians are to associate themselves into particular societies or churches (Acts 14:23,27, 20:17,28, Galatians 1:2, Philippians 1:1, I Thessalonians 1:1); and to each of these churches He has given needful authority for administering the order, discipline and worship which He has appointed (Acts 20:28, Ephesians 4:11). The regular officers of a church are Bishops (or Elders) and Deacons (I Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9, I Peter 5:1-5).

BAPTISM. Baptism is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus, obligatory upon every believer, wherein he is immersed in water in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, as a sign of his fellowship with the death and resurrection of Christ, of remission of sins, and of his giving himself up to God, to live and walk in newness of life (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:41-42, 8:36-39, Romans 6:1-11).

THE LORD’S SUPPER. The Lord’s Supper is an ordinance of Jesus Christ, to be administered with bread and wine, and to be observed by His churches till the end of the world. It is in no sense a sacrifice, but is designed to commemorate His death, to confirm the faith of Christians, and to be a bond, pledge, and renewal of their communion with Him, and of their church fellowship (Luke 22:15-20, I Corinthians 10:16, 11:23-32).

THE RESURRECTION. There will be a resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are not unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28-29).

THE JUDGMENT. God has appointed a day, wherein He will judge the world by Jesus Christ, when everyone shall receive according to his deeds: the wicked shall go into everlasting punishment; the righteous, into everlasting life (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, Acts 17:30-31, II Corinthians 5:10, I Peter 4:17, Revelation 20:12).
